Op-eds are an important communications channel for participating in timely discussions of issues of interest to the public and policy makers. Researchers can use op-eds to share their research findings and perspectives on current issues related to their work. In this webinar, participants will learn about the role and influence of op-eds as a strategic communication strategy, how the writing style and components of op-eds differ from academic pieces, selecting an outlet, and what editors look for in an op-ed. The webinar features perspectives from a researcher experienced in publishing op-eds and a media professional and will give participants practical strategies for crafting their own op-eds.

The webinar is led by Jim Krieger, MD, MPH, Executive Director, Healthy Food America and Professor, University of Washington, and Melissa Davis, Deputy Opinion Editor, The Seattle Times, and moderated by Juliana Cohen, ScM, ScD, Professor of Nutrition, Merrimack College and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
